SNOWSHOE, WV

WANDERLUST FESTIVAL 2017

As I was building this altar at @wanderlustfest in Snowshoe, WV, an enormous and spectacular hawk-moth landed on the center of the altar. She slept there all night and the next morning, flew onto me and then nuzzled up to my assistant, @creativeartery, for the entire day. She was drawn to the art and became our friend. I'm just beginning to grok the magical relationship of earth altars and the greater-than-human world -- and how beauty truly brings us closer together! ❤️

MARIN, CA

BIONEERS CONFERENCE 2016

'ode to autumn'

Bioneers Conference
Marin, CA
October 2016

MADE OF deodar cedar petal, white rock, acacia leaf, bean pod, palm date and stalk, red berry, and earth

GENEROSITY! The bones and blood of this altar came from the branches of 3 different trees shedding their old skin. Over the course of 2 days, my team and I labored under the sun to bring forth this intricate and precisely placed altar as an homage to the generosity of autumn.

MAY WE slow down long enough to see how much is given by so little.

A SPECIAL
SHOUT OUT to our good man, Mr. Gabe Crane for the assistance and friendship, and to Polina and the Bioneers Conference for the opportunity to bring the feast of this altar to such a meaningful gathering.

ASPEN / SNOWMASS, CO

WANDERLUST FESTIVAL 2016

'returning returning'
Wanderlust Festival
Snowmass, CO
June 30-July 4 2016

MADE FROM colorado spruce, pine cone, poppy, rock, lupin, horsetail, iron-infused red earth, sand, coal, cattail, earth

WHAT A JOURNEY this has been. Every time I build an altar, I am faced with uncertainty, doubt, harsh weather, materials dying -and- every time I discover my own resilience, the grace and generosity of the land, the help of beloved friends, and the beauty pouring through my hands to create such a feast.

MAY THE land here, the people here, the ancestors buried here and the unseen here be fed by this exquisite meal and may the creative spirit that graces this work be heaped with overflowing praise so that it returns again and again and again.

SPECIAL SHOUTOUT of thanks to Simcha, Rae, Sarah-Bracha, Jennie and Snowmass. Couldn't have done it without you. ❤️

SQUAW VALLEY, CA

WANDERLUST FESTIVAL 2016

'between two galaxies'

Wanderlust Festival
Squaw Valley, Tahoe CA
July 2016

MADE OF lichen, Tahoe-beach black rock, pine cone, bark, yarrow, mullen, lupin, sand, white rocks, lava rocks, red earth, pine needles, thistle and earth

WHAT AN OTHERWORLDLY ALTAR! This winged creature was born through some real rocky soil. After days of wandering around this majestic place, foraging from her bosom, carrying, sorting and setting a grid of white stone, she began to take shape as an intricate and lush labyrinth with two unfurling galaxies seated at the tips of her wings. This is 4 days of some real labour, visioning, listening, loving and letting go. Let her fly into your heart and inspire you.

MAY WE create the space and commit the focus that allows the otherworldly creative spirit to move through each one of us uniquely into this world.

A SPECIAL OVERFLOWING OF PRAISE BE TO MY TIRELESS TEAM: Gabe Crane @woven.wings and Lauren Brown @laurenbreathes with awesome help from Cassie, Eli and Aiyana. This could not have been born without you. <3

STRATTON, VT

WANDERLUST FESTIVAL 2016

'northern lights'

Wanderlust Festival
Stratton Mountain, VT
June 2016

MADE OF pine cone (whole and chewed), white sand, colorado spruce, cattail, grass stalk, flower, rock, and earth

WHAT A WILD RIDE ITS BEEN!  I couldn't have imagined channeling an altar that is so breath taking. May the land and people here at Stratton be nourished with such a well wrought feast. As I walked to the altar last night dressed in over a hundred candles, I wept because I love it so much and know it can't last forever.
We dismantle and return it to the forest at 5p tonight. 😢

MAY WE see all that surrounds us in a collaboration of beauty making

A SPECIAL
SHOUT OUT to Mr. Gabe Crane for the enormous assistance and friendship, to Jennie, Heather, Danny, Vin, Lindsey from @wanderlustfest and this glorious, generous, ancient mountain. #findyourtruenorth
